Wading thru the garbage
Question:
I subcribed to this newsgroup in the hopes of picking up advice on dog behaviour. Gee how stupid of me. This group should be renamed rec.childish.adult.behaviour. I guess no one gives a shit that it costs to download all this crap. I have spend hours wading thru the senseless bickering on feelings hurt or he said/she said in trying to find some thing useful in regards to dog behaviour. I sure got a lesson in adults (and I use that term loosely) overindulging in moronics and misuse of an otherwise useful forum. I suppose there are just too many people out there with nothing better to do with their time. Why don’t you go to a chat room and you can find all the pubescent idiots in one place. There you can argue and swear to your hearts content. PEOPLE GROW UP. Peggy Skinner

Welcome to Chaos. So… do you have a question to ask, or a problem that you need help with? Ask… and you’ll get an answer (or two, or a hundred

Ah, so Sympatico/WorldLinx charges per minute to download? Then it seems that perhaps you should find a server that has unlimited access for a flat rate if possible. Otherwise, you’ll find newsgroups and Usenet an expensive venture. You see, no matter how much we would like to have a nice, orderly group about dog behavior… we can only control what we ourselves write and not what other’s have to say, whether it be on or off topic. This is an UNmoderated group, as are many on the net. If you’ll stick around a while, you’ll realize who’s posts you want to read and who’s posts you don’t. > I have spend hours wading thru the senseless >bickering on feelings hurt or he said/she said in trying to find some >thing useful in regards to dog behaviour. And whining about the problem here, which is not "controllable" at all only tends to add waste to the bandwidth (what you were complaining about originally… download time). So, if you have a question on dogs… ask away, or if you have some useful knowledge that we might benefit from, hey, we’re all ears (well, eyes). But complaining about the problem here (and we get several a week) doesn’t really help. What kind of dogs do you have? Training methods used? Cat in Alaska (Hey, someone want to repost the mailing-list addys again… haven’t seen them recently and I lost my bookmarks the other day)

Bob- Good suggestion. Too much nonsense on the groups with people forging names and messages that are bogus. — HELP STOP CANADA’S SEAL HUNT! "It Not Only Cruel – it’s Criminal!" http://seals.ifaw.org/seals/ Larry (((((((( I’M IN C Y B E R S P A C E ))))))))

Welcome newcomers! If you’re new to owning a dog, or just new to this newsgroup, it would be a good idea to read the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for this group before posting. If you have web access, you can find the FAQs at: http://www.zmall.com/pet_talk/dog-faqs/ Dog related Email lists(An excellent moderated & usually flame free open exchange of ideas and info amongst fanciers, amateurs and experts) along with subscription information can be found at: www.zmall.com/pet_talk/dog-faqs/lists/email-list.html If you don’t have web access, you can also find all the FAQs in the newsgroup: rec.pets.dogs.info It’s a good idea to lurk for a little while in rpd* so you can see who the different participants are. If you think the group has too much non- dog stuff in it, please don’t add more non-dog stuff by complaining about it! Just post your dog questions and ignore the non-dog stuff. That’s the only way to get rid of it, and your dog questions *will* get answered very quickly.

So, are you Pete or are you Peggy? Doesn’t matter, either way, you should just march up to your ISP and demand your money back! There is no way these people should interfere with your God-given right to get free advice without having to push that "delete" button. It just ain’t fair!!! Maybe if you asked a question things would work better–think so? Robert C.
